What works today: the Sonos MCP server
You don't have to wait to automate Sonos with Castbreeze. The Castbreeze Sonos MCP server (@castbreeze/sonos-mcp) already lets an AI agent or automation control your speakers right now:
play_radio— stream a URL on repeat (background music, a radio station)play_audio_clip— play an MP3/WAV announcement or alertplay_default_chime— sound a quick notificationget_groups— list your Sonos groups and players
Any MCP-compatible agent can call these, so if your automation flow can reach an MCP client, you can already trigger Sonos playback on events or schedules. The full walkthrough is in the AI-agent / MCP guide.
Note: Home Assistant also ships its own native Sonos integration for basic control. The Castbreeze tooling focuses on Castbreeze playback features (streaming arbitrary URLs and clips on repeat). We'll document how they complement each other at launch.
